Section C:
ANIMATED SHORT FILMS
GENERAL INDICATIONS

Here are some short detailed indications and information to complete the contest regulation.

THEME - > WOMEN AND WORK, WOMEN'S TIMES, HEROINES AND PROTAGONISTS, THE SOCIAL ROLE OF WOMEN, THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN
The only restriction for this section of the contest is the theme, together with the indications on the files format and size.
Works are consistent with the proposed theme even if only 1 one of the subjects is dealt with, for instance only "women and work" or "women's times", or "heroines and female characters", or " the social role of women" or eventually "the relationship between men and women".
Participants can anyway refer to the guidelines (reference text, images, MPG films). In this way, they can use materials belonging to Modena Province or to other authors, thus free from copyright restrictions. The use of such materials will not influence the decision of the jury.
It is possible to submit works created before aniMOweb and independently, provided they were not submitted for previous editions of the contest. They have to deal with the proposed theme. A special committee will decide if they can be admitted, in particular if there is consistency with the proposed theme.

TYPE -> animated short film
For "animated short film" is intended a film of short duration that develops the assigned theme through the use frame by frame of animated images and graphics, sound or music, and possibly a narrator or some dialogues. It should present an original style and a narrative, according to an original screenplay or a story-board. The role of the spectator will have to be passive, that is the mouse is not needed.
However, since the film will be inserted into a cd - rom or in an Internet site, the works that require a non-passive role of the viewer will not be excluded from the context. The narrative and visual quality, in any case, should be prevailing on the inter-activity of the film.

LANGUAGE
Works in one language are admitted, either in Italian or English. It is preferable to use the English language. It is possible to produce only 1 file containing both versions with the choice of the language at the beginning. Since the aniMOweb site is in Italian and English, it is also possible to create 2 versions in 2 files that will be published in the page with the corresponding language.
Works in languages different from English and Italian are admitted as well, but subtitles or a translation in English and/or in Italian must be provided in a special file that will be published in the site.

USE OF WINNING WORKS
the winning intro will be published in the cd -rom for the celebration of 8th of March 2005, in the aniMOweb site, in the section devoted to Equal Opportunities of Modena Province site, in other possible sites edited by Modena Province or other sponsoring institutions, in the cd-rom enclosed in the magazine Computer Graphics and Publishing by Gruppo Editoriale IHT (presumably in the november-december 2004 issue).

FILES FORMAT AND SIZE
The contest regulation establishes that the format of the files can only be:
Macromedia Flash (swf format, to be viewed with Flash Player)
- Dimensions of the swf files:
Section C) - > a maximum dimension of 10 Mb is proposed

SUBMISSION OF WORKS
In order to make the site designer and the jury's work easier, the names of the swf files that will be submitted for the contest will have to contain the author's surname and the submission date. They will also have to follow the scheme: surname_ddmm.swf (for example rossi_3105.swf if Mr Rossi sends his file on the 31st of May).

On 31/7/2004 the deadline to submit for 2004 edition of aniMOweb contest expired.

To take part it was necessary to:

1) read the regulation
2) examine the guidelines
3) search the faq (Frequently asked questions)
4) ask for information or explanations
5) produce and submit materials by 31/7/2004 with the compiled application form

Now it is possibile:

6) see your own animation in section a (animated intros), in section b (games and interactivity) or in section c (short animated films)
7) vote for the audience prize.
