8th November 2004: The audience prize to Hermes Mangialardo, Gaia Soavi and Nicola Brusco.
The audience prizes have been assigned by more than 1000 visitors of the aniMOweb site from all around the world. Voters have doubled since last year. The pages of the site about the on-line vote and the participating movies have been browsed by thousands of visitors. Each single vote was registered in a data base and only votes coming from different IP numbers were considered for each author (with a maximum of two voting sessions for the same computer).
For section A and section B the winners are the same as last year. This means both that their works have a certain quality and that they have a large number of fans. In the intro section on the theme "women and work" the highest score (320) was reached by Hermes Mangialardo from Copertino (Lecce, Italy) with "Mary's Day". Hermes has also won the second official prize of the jury (€700) and preceded one of the two movies from the Nanyang Politechnik of Singapore, winners of the special international prizes. The third place winner and the fourth place winner are the Neapolitan Fabio Di Dio and the Roman Alessandro Desś. Among the first six placed works according to the audience, we also find the second intro by the Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore and Francesco Chiariello's movie, which has offered one of the most ironical and imaginative moments of the contest, even though he has not received prizes.
In the section of games and interactive applications the winner is Gaia Soavi from Piacenza, Italy, with the game "Women and Equal Opportunities" with 92 valid votes. The Piacentine computer programmer has already won the second audience prize of aniMOweb and is one of the three authors who have taken part in all the editions of the contest. The audience's second favourite is the amusing game on the heroines of history by the Nanyang Polytechnic of Singapore, which also has placed second in the jury evaluation. The third place winner is then the platform by Luigi Pesenti "Da Rescue Modena City Mothers", also reviewed by Il Venerd́ di Repubblica. Although it was one of the favourites at the beginning, it has not received prizes.
The triumphant winner of section C of short films is Nicola Brusco, with the episode "Summer" of the series Famiglia Signappola. This movie deals, in a paradoxical and ironical way, with the problems in a family and has obtained 1081 valid votes, with more than double score in comparison with the second placed work. This is the absolute best result in the three editions of aniMOweb. The author from Verona has published about 60 cartoons on his site and in other sites like Clarence.com and has a large group of fans who keep in touch through his site and forum with newsletter. The second placed movie is "Los Dias son Dias" by the Russian author Andrei Bakhurin, who also obtained the official third prize of the jury.
Alessio Frascati, one of the excellent authors not awarded an official prize, is once again in the first places of the audience's favourites. His movie "A Woman's instinct" was most likely one of the probable winners, for the quality of the animation and music. The author from Milan, on the contrary, has had to be content with a third place in the audience's favourites with 307 valid scores. The score of 200 has been reached also by the film "Amazing life" by Giuliano Parodi and Massimiliano Grassini, by the film "Si tu n'etais pas la" by Mattia Francesco Laviosa, who comes fifth in the audience's preference as well as being winner of aniMOweb 2004. The movie "Hetrozychoot" by Jeroen Hoekstra, the movies by the winners of The Tab and Shortvillage, i.e. Carlotta Emanuele with "Anna" and Marina Gigante with "Women's Day", the amusing film by Maycon Sadala "Future Tense" and "Leda" by Nuria Juncosa follow in the list.
