EXHIBITION THEIR CIRCULAR LIFE BY LORENZO FONDA AND DAVIDE TERENZI
The exhibition Their Circular Life was held at S. Paolo Church in Modena, Via Selmi (the main exhibition centre of Modena Province). It was about the project created by Lorenzo Fonda e Davide Terenzi (www.theircircularlife.it).
The exhibition ran from the 24th October to the 16th November 2003.
3 sections were created:
left nave - introduction to the project Their Circular Life
central nave - Their Circular Life
right nave - the authors
Thanks to an interactive graphical interface, visitors were able to see the passing of a day in a specific environment, through a sequence of photograms in a video controlled by a computer. In this way, visitors were encouraged to meditate on the circularity of life, on the rules of everyday life and, consequently, on the authors of these rules. The basic idea of the exhibition was also about a claustrophobic feeling towards something that remains unaltered in time, while everything around flows in a repetitive way.
The main structure of the exhibition reminds of this idea of circularity (circle, cylinder).
The main environment was the CIRCULAR structure in the centre of the church. Inside this structure a screen was on the wall, while a CYLINDER piece of furniture with a mouse connected to a computer and a projector stood in the middle.

The images of some pictures taken during the length of a day were projected on the screen in the circular structure and everything was directed by visitors handling the mouse.
New locations with the themes of 2003 aniMOweb edition were added to the locations of the original plan (the square in front of Modena railways station and a walkway along a Venetian canal). In particular, the focus was on the impact of man activities on our habitat.
The original project is exhibited at the Modern Art Museum in Frankfurt. Positive reviews have been written in the most important on-line art sites.
In the left side was a pillar with the same photographs taken in the locations, allowing the visitor to handle them and change their position. In addition, some panels with photographs explained the idea of Their Circular Life and provided information on the backstage preparation. In the left side two rooms were created: they were displaying spaces as well, devoted to each of the two authors (Lorenzo Fonda e Davide Terenzi).
In Lorenzo Fonda room the videos (short films and animated films) created by the author were exhibited. In Davide Terenzi room some computer interactive works were exhibited. Everything displayed was inserted in a CD ROM on the exhibition.
