INTERVIEW WITH CARLOTTA EMMANUELE:

YOUR WORK AWARDED A PRIZE AT ANIMOWEB
You took part in the 3rd Edition of aniMOweb on the themes of women and equal opportunities and you won a prize. Congratulations! First we would like to know how you spent the aniMOweb money prize (if you won a money prize). Then, how you created your work: what software did you use?, How long did you take? Did you work alone or with someone? How did you get the idea? Did you expect to win a prize?

To create the movie I used only Flash Mx, it took about a fortnight. I would have liked to do some things more carefully, but time had expired. I had started it after graduating and the time was limited. The idea came while looking at the photographs on aniMOweb site. A friend helped in improving it and gave me some advice during production. Did I expect to win? I don't know, but I hoped so.

IDEA AND EXECUTION
What do you prefer in the creative process, the planning part or the implementation? How would you describe these two phases in your way of creating? Do you keep them separate or do you have a flexible approach?

If the idea is good, it is fine to make a plan and to work on it, even if it can be changed during production. If I work alone I like feeling free to manage what I'm doing and to change it at any moment.
Sometimes I start from a spontaneous drawing. It is then the character that gives birth to a story. Other times I go on thinking for days before a really good moving idea comes. Everything starts from that, also the less amusing part of work, like organising sequences, making the story board, etc.

ANIMOWEB PROS AND CONS
What do you like best in aniMOweb and what would you change or add?

I like its variety, the opportunity to confront with people all over the world on the same theme - in such an amusing way as through a game or an animated film. I would change the prize awarding ceremony…too long, some winners had to go away before receiving their prize.

ANIMOWEB ON CONFLICTS, WAR AND PEACE
The 4th Edition of aniMOweb is on the theme of conflicts, cult of war, culture of peace: how do you feel about these subjects? Do they trigger your fancy? Do you think you'll take part?

More than "triggering" my fancy, these subjects make me reflect upon war, terrorism , the fear they arouse and on how they are up-to-date and menacing. The flag of peace is hanging out of my window, but I'd prefer it were a reality in which to live, rather than a dream hanging from a balcony.

FUTURE PLANS
We would like to know something about your present and future plans. How do you see yourself in 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years? Do you imagine doing the same things you are doing now?

In spare time I create Internet sites for friends and groups. It is my first experience in this field, but I'm enjoying it. As for the future, I don't know…I hope I'll find a job that will enable me to work with Flash.

FINALLY...
Last, ask yourself a question and answer it. Or, if you don't want to do it, use this space to proclaim your credo to the visitors of aniMOweb site (don't be too boastful), or describe your political program to convince electors to vote for you (as if there was an election), talk about your philosophy, quote a proverb, a saying, make a drawing, improvise an animated movie in Flash, in short end this interview as you like…

What can I say? I hope I'll be able to take part this year, too. Enjoy your work!
