INTERVIEW WITH TERESA PICCININNO:

YOUR WORK AWARDED A PRIZE AT ANIMOWEB
You took part in the 3rd Edition of aniMOweb on the themes of women and equal opportunities and you won a prize. Congratulations! First we would like to know how you spent the aniMOweb money prize (if you won a money prize). Then, how you created your work: what software did you use?, How long did you take? Did you work alone or with someone? How did you get the idea? Did you expect to win a prize?

The production of my work was rather long and complex. Before starting with a computer, I walked around the small street and among the people of my village, taking photographs, observing, asking questions... I hadn't a precise idea of what to do, I only felt that anything I did should have to represent the light, colours, toughness, warmth, humbleness and reluctance of my countryside.
As for my money prize... well, I bought a book on the use of colours in digital graphics and a pizza for my boyfriend with the rest.

LIFE OF YOUR WORK AFTER ANIMOWEB
Did you present your work in similar contests or in personal promotions on other sites? Was it selected in other festivals? Did you win other prizes with it?

My work is constantly on line as a link from numerous other sites. This allows Signor Giglio's house to receive a great number of visitors every day. Apart from a small quotation on a bi-monthly magazine about digital culture (www.myMedia.it), I haven't had other mentions.

CREATING ANIMATION, GAMES AND INTERACTIVE APPLICATIONS FOR THE WEB
Creating animation, games and interactive sites for the Web: what perspectives do you see for the jobs in this field? What are the key factors to be successful with these activities?

Passion, dedication, creativity and a certain "personal style".
I think it is important to enlarge one's knowledge, to refine taste, to study, read, look around, without losing sight of one's "identity of composition" and by challenging cold media as computers, trying to break through emotions or anyway to get to the other's side, the side of the onlooker or the navigator.

IDEA AND EXECUTION
What do you prefer in the creative process, the planning part or the implementation? How would you describe these two phases in your way of creating? Do you keep them separate or do you have a flexible approach?

I am a very untidy person. Chaotic in everything, also in ideas. Of the working process - the stage that interests me most is no doubt the creative one. I never sit at a desk trying to plan the details of a project. Once I get a possible idea, I start working leaving secondary details (often primary details as well) to a later time. It's a confused way to go on. Often I have to undo everything - however, even though I keep trying to change my way of working, I always end up in giving way to chaos.

FLASH BOOKMARKS
Works produced with Flash: share with us and comment, if you want, some of your favourite bookmarks of sites, animation, games and interactive applications.

It sounds absurd - I agree - but, in truth, I can't think of any site, except for a movie I chanced to see some days ago, which left me in a particular state of mind: http://koti.welho.com/alaari/lodger/

ANIMOWEB PROS AND CONS
What do you like best in aniMOweb and what would you change or add?

AniMOweb is a positive and established reality. It offers visibility and good opportunities to participants. The staff team are attentive and careful people. They are also very committed. I wouldn't change anything!

ANIMOWEB ON CONFLICTS, WAR AND PEACE
The 4th Edition of aniMOweb is on the theme of conflicts, cult of war, culture of peace: how do you feel about these subjects? Do they trigger your fancy? Do you think you'll take part?

The theme is very intricate and delicate this year. It is really difficult to interpret it: it is easy to get to common places, exasperate, border on the banal. A real challenge!

FUTURE PLANS
We would like to know something about your present and future plans. How do you see yourself in 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years? Do you imagine doing the same things you are doing now?

I've got plenty of future plans. I'd like to take part in the next edition of aniMOweb, for example, and I hope time will not betray me. I'd rather not mention the rest…to protect myself from bad luck!

FINALLY...
Last, ask yourself a question and answer it. Or, if you don't want to do it, use this space to proclaim your credo to the visitors of aniMOweb site (don't be too boastful), or describe your political program to convince electors to vote for you (as if there was an election), talk about your philosophy, quote a proverb, a saying, make a drawing, improvise an animated movie in Flash, in short end this interview as you like…

I don't know what to say. I'll send a photograph of mine :)
