INTERVIEW WITH DMITRY ZHELTOBRIUKHOV: YOUR WORK AWARDED A PRIZE AT ANIMOWEB You took part in the 3rd Edition of aniMOweb on the themes of women and equal opportunities and you won a prize. Congratulations! First we would like to know how you spent the aniMOweb money prize (if you won a money prize). Then, how you created your work: what software did you use?, How long did you take? Did you work alone or with someone? How did you get the idea? Did you expect to win a prize? It took me about 2 months to create the game, and then, after it was presented in Animoweb and won the prize, I spent more time modifying and polishing it. I didnīt use any special software except for Flash 5 and Photoshop. I worked alone. The idea? I don't know. It just came to me after thinking for a while. Actually, the original idea was to make a saga of a working woman, where after working as a waitress she becomes a chief, a restaurant manager, a food industry magnate, and so on, but for now I don't know if the saga will be continued. LIFE OF YOUR WORK AFTER ANIMOWEB Did you present your work in similar contests or in personal promotions on other sites? Was it selected in other festivals? Did you win other prizes with it? The work did not take part in any other contents, but I sent it to various Flash games sites and it hit the top 10 of the most popular games at some of them. CREATING ANIMATION, GAMES AND INTERACTIVE APPLICATIONS FOR THE WEB Creating animation, games and interactive sites for the Web: what perspectives do you see for the jobs in this field? What are the key factors to be successful with these activities? As far as I do not have any professional experience in this field, I can not tell. IDEA AND EXECUTION What do you prefer in the creative process, the planning part or the implementation? How would you describe these two phases in your way of creating? Do you keep them separate or do you have a flexible approach? Both are very exciting. I feel more satisfied when I actually see the results of the work, so the implementation part seems more pleasant to me. I try to keep these two parts separated, but it never works. During the production I see more things I can add or, on the contrary, get rid of some details I can not realize well, so, in the end, the work may become completely different from what was initially planned. ANIMOWEB PROS AND CONS What do you like best in aniMOweb and what would you change or add? Animoweb's team is doing a great work, supporting and encouraging Flash artists from all over the world. The organization level is excellent. The crew's attitude is warm and friendly. Everything is perfect. The only thing that can be improved is the site's design. I believe that an interface with more graphics and interactivity could suit the content better. ANIMOWEB ON CONFLICTS, WAR AND PEACE The 4th Edition of aniMOweb is on the theme of conflicts, cult of war, culture of peace: how do you feel about these subjects? Do they trigger your fancy? Do you think you'll take part? Well... The theme is very serious... Maybe, too much... I don't feel like joking about it, and making a serious work leaves less variants. On the other hand, there are very few games on this topic, and it gives a good oportunity to create something really fresh. Besides, I feel absolutely solidary with the theme, and it helps a lot. FUTURE PLANS We would like to know something about your present and future plans. How do you see yourself in 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years? Do you imagine doing the same things you are doing now? I wish I could start doing these things professionally. However, I enjoy myself and I don't see any reason to stop doing it. FINALLY... Last, ask yourself a question and answer it. Or, if you don't want to do it, use this space to proclaim your credo to the visitors of aniMOweb site (don't be too boastful), or describe your political program to convince electors to vote for you (as if there was an election), talk about your philosophy, quote a proverb, a saying, make a drawing, improvise an animated movie in Flash, in short end this interview as you like Let's make it the Academy Awards style :) I would like to thank the Modena Province that made this all possible and to wish them a lot of luck with their projects.
